Starting this section off  with this question. Anyone here ever used them ? Do you have to change the keepers ?

Some (10 degree) keepers are cut out to clear valve lash caps, but if you have enough valve stem height that the lash cap doesn't touch the keepers, they don't need to be changed.  I run lash caps on one of my engines that didn't have enough clearance for the spring retainer to clear the rocker arm... your rocker arm geometry and push rod length have to be rechecked.

Thanks Larry . I have been fighting setting thing up for 2 weeks now.  I got a deal in a set of Trick Flow Twisted wedge heads , I'm using 7/16 studs and Miller Roller Rocker, hyd flat lifter ( using solid to check ) Trick Flow ( TF) suggest 7.3 push rod to start  and says I should only have .50 +/- from that . I do thing the old fashion way no check springs or adjustible push rod instead I have a assortment of pushrods and like checking them with the springs I'm going to run . What I have come up with  is using a 7.45 push rod I'm perfect on the intake side  and perfect on the exhaust if I use a lash cap. Using a 7.5 push rod on exhaust I'm to close to bind  it seems to me you can see in picand I'm no where in center of valve

Holding the lash cap with my finger I can get a .0015 feeler gauge between cap and keepers  but not sure this will be enough. I have though about grinding a little off  but don't know about that ether.

I try to get the rocker tip contacting (as near as practical) the center of the valve stem at half of the valve lift.  If you have a big enough cam to be close to coil bind, you should check the piston to valve clearance too, if you haven't already.  The .015" clearance is plenty without grinding the lash cap... the stem shouldn't wear any with a lash cap on it.  Miller rockers has a real neat system built into their design which makes getting the correct length push rod easier.  Is that a new Street Stock motor for Livermoore?  Looks like it might keep up with a Vortec Chevy, LOL!!

Well After thinking on it some I went on and did what I was thinking about doing . I ground the caps untill I could get a .005 gauge between the cap and the keeper. I feel better about it and after it runs a while I'll recheck . I just used them on the exhaust valves and with a 7.45 push rod I get a nice tight mark in the middle of valves and caps.

My new C4 thats suppose to handle 550 hp  dance

Sure looks good Earl!  The sheet metal valve covers really 'top it off' too.  You'll probably like the dual plane manifold best for street driving... one of the single plane ones MIGHT work better if you drag race it, depending on their port size and your camshaft to RPM range relationship.  Nice job!  Can't wait to hear it run.

I'll second the dual plane!  As someone who lost .3 tenths in the quarter when I swapped to a single plane on a 406... I can say bigger ain't always better
